New Braunfels, TX (September 23, 2016) – Performance Motorsports Group and Ginetta Factory Recognized Driver Parker Chase achieved his seventh podium finish of his rookie season in Pirelli World Challenge last weekend at Sonoma Raceway.
Chase, age 15, qualified the No. 19 Alta Towers / Enertech Resources Ginetta G55 GT4 in sixth position in an extremely close GTS field for Round 16 on Saturday, September 17. As the clock ticked closer to zero, Chase moved his way closer to the front of the pack. Mounting a brilliant charge, Chase advanced four positions, from sixth to second place, in under twenty minutes. He crossed the line in second place, just 1.8 seconds behind leader Nate Stacy.
“I had a sea of KTMs ahead of me on Saturday for most of the race, gave me a really great view of the chaos,” said Chase. “After Barkey and Sandberg had contact, which I was lucky to avoid, I just started hunting down Nate trying to get my first win. We didn't win, but I'm happy with second place points. The Ginetta G55 performed flawlessly thanks to the Performance Motorsports Group guys.”
Sunday’s Round 17 saw Parker in fifth place on the starting grid for the standing start. When the lights went out, Chase’s launch kept him in fifth place and out of trouble as an early caution halted the field. Battling with Lawson Aschenbach for most of the fifty minutes, Chase was able to execute a late-race pass for fourth place, where he crossed the finish line.
“It was a great points weekend for our team,” said Chase. “I finished ahead of two people in front of me in the Championship and that’s important going into the triple-header at Laguna. Most importantly, I had a lot of friends and family out here in Sonoma supporting me and I want to say thank you to them coming out. It means a lot to have their support.”
